DATO’ DR. SHARIFAH NOOR AKMAL SYED HUSAIN SHAHABUDDIN

Achievement

Dato’ Dr. Sharifah graduated from the University of Alexandria, Egypt in 1978 with an MBChB. She then pursued further studies in Clinical Pathology at the Hammersmith Hospital, Royal Postgraduate Medical School London and obtained the Diploma of Clinical Pathology (DCP) in Anatomical Pathology in 1983. In 1988, she left for Bethesda, Maryland for subspecialty training in Cytopathology at the Johns Hopkins Institute.

Dr. Sharifah then pursued her doctorate in New Zealand and was awarded the Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Otago in 1998. In 2010, Dr. Sharifah was awarded the Fellow of the International Academy of Cytology (FIAC).

Currently, Dr. Sharifah is the Consultant Cytopathologist at Pantai Premier Pathology and Lab Director of Reference Core Lab, Pantai Hospital Ampang. Dr. Sharifah is also actively involved in teaching and research at the university. Her positions held include:

  • Technical Assessor for Cytopathology Module, Department of Standard Malaysia (DSM)
  • Senior Consultant Cytopathologist, UKM Medical Centre (UKMMC)
  • Member, Credentialing Committee for Anatomical Pathology subspecialty Ministry of Health
  • Panel Assessor R&D Grant Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation
  • President of Malaysian Society of Cytology (MSOC)

DR. ROSLI BIN ISMAIL

Achievement

Dr. Rosli is a MBBS graduate from University of Adelaide in 1994. Dr. Rosli obtained his Master’s Degree in Pathology from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia 2002.

As a Pathologist, Dr. Rosli has been posted to several government hospitals in Malaysia.

  • Hospital Pulau Pinang, Penang as a Consultant Pathologist in Pathology Department.
  • Hospital Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan as Consultant Pathologist and Head of Pathology Department.
  • Hospital Melaka as Consultant Pathologist in Pathology Department.
  • Hospital Umum Sarawak as Consultant Pathologist in Pathology Department.

During his service in government Hospitals, he was actively involved in Quality Assurance program, educating medical officers at the Pathology Department and has attended courses and seminars related to Histopathology. Dr. Rosli is also a Member of the Infection Control Society of Malaysia.

DR. SHAHRIN ISKANDAR ABDUL WAHAB

Achievement

Dr. Shahrin Iskandar graduated with MBBS from University of Queensland, Australia in 1988 and obtained his Master degree in Pathology from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 1997.

As a pathologist, Dr. Shahrin Iskandar has experienced various facets of healthcare ranging from government hospitals, academic institutions as well as in the private sector.

Currently, Dr. Shahrin holds a position as the Lab Director in PPP Cheras and Klang. His extensive experience includes:

  • Hospital Pulau Pinang, Penang as a Clinical pathologist. Dr. Shahrin Iskandar was involved in the initial renal biopsy reporting service for the hospital.
  • Hospital Kangar, Perlis as Consultant Pathologist and Head of Pathology Department
  • Universiti Putra Malaysia as lecturer and Consultant Pathologist, reporting at HKL.
  • A Consultant Pathologist in a private laboratory for 8 years reporting large volume and variety of cases from West and East Malaysia, as well as from Vietnam and Singapore.
  • Familiarity with requests from clinics, small/medium sized hospital, tertiary hospitals (IJN and Hussein Onn Eye Hospital)
  • Familiarity with Gynaepathology, Cytopathology, Liver and GIT pathology, Uropathology, Endocrine and Breast pathology and soft tissue tumors.
  • Other pathology services performed also include frozen sections and immunohistochemistry.
